Residents of a long-term-care centre in Millbrook have been forced out of their home by a fire that injured a maintenance worker and a firefighter.
Truro fire Chief Tom Bremner said crews were called to Townsview Estates on Abenaki Road around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to deal with an electrical problem. When firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke in the basement.
A maintenance worker suffered minor injuries, but Bremner didn't have details.
An electrical explosion caused a second fire, Bremner said, and firefighters had to wait until crews from Nova Scotia Power arrived to shut off power to the building.
The 70 residents of the building were taken to Wynn Park in Truro.
The RCMP and the Nova Scotia Department of Labour are investigating.
